October 6, 2012 the newly revitalized The Shops at Worthington Place will thank the Worthington community for their unwavering support with a Community Celebration Tailgate 

WORTHINGTON, Ohio (October 4, 2012) – The Shops at Worthington Place will host the first of its phased grand opening events on Saturday, October 6, 2012 as a thank you for the local community that continues to support the rebirth of this once struggling retail center in the heart of Worthington.

“It’s a labor of love,” said Tom Carter, The Shops at Worthington Place owner and Worthington resident. “The community’s continued support and curiosity makes this a special project for me because it’s my community and my friends and neighbors. This gives us the opportunity to say thank you to all of these people who have shopped and dined with us throughout our construction and renovations. ”

The grand opening celebration will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a family friendly Ohio State pre-game tailgate in the north lot of The Shops at Worthington Place. The event includes free hot dogs and snacks donated by Kroger, and cookies donated by Cheryl’s Cookies. Music provided by, The Pat Malloy Band and the Whinestoppers, will entertain the crowds and an Ohio State football themed bounce house will be open to young guests.

Several new tenants, including FrontRunner, FaceForward, regiMEN, Montero Native Market, and ModeAlise, will also join the party. All of these newcomers were founded in Columbus adding a unique and local flare to the event as well as The Shops at Worthington Place.

“We’re extremely excited to add these unique retailers to our mix of great shopping.  This brings us another step closer to giving the community what it desires – a unique entertainment and shopping venue,” said Carter.

While the grand opening on Saturday serves as a gesture of thanks to the community that continues to shop, dine and play at The Shops at Worthington Place, owners Carter and Morris-Floyd Capital Partners will make remarks at 3:30 p.m. to pledge a continued investment in the property and local community as well as future development plans.

“We are very excited about realizing the renaissance of Worthington Place. We fully intend to continue to deliver on our promise to give the community what it desires, which is a unique venue that will eclipse the success the mall has had in the past. We envision [The Shops at] Worthington Place as a place for connectivity, community and commerce for the ever expanding trade area,” said Carter. “We look forward to celebrating the opening of The Shops at Worthington Place with our friends, neighbors and family this Saturday!”
